Salary: $143,400 - 143,400 per year Requirements:

• At least 3 years of professional, non-internship software development experience
• At least 2 years of non-internship experience designing or architecting new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling
• Experience programming in at least one software language
• Preferred: At least 3 years of experience across the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations
• Preferred: A bachelors degree in computer science or an equivalent qualification

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable distributed systems for AWS Elastic Load Balancing, supporting millions of requests per second worldwide
• Write maintainable, high-quality code in Java, C++, or similar languages, and take part in code reviews and technical design discussions
• Work with product managers, engineers, and operations teams to deliver features that improve load-balancing performance, reliability, and security
• Investigate complex production problems, identify root causes, and implement fixes to prevent recurrence
• Lead medium- to large-sized projects from design through deployment and monitoring
• Contribute to team architecture decisions and technical strategy
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge sharing
• Monitor system health, join on-call rotations, and address operational issues to maintain high availability
• Improve development processes, testing practices, and operational excellence
• Keep up with industry developments and AWS technologies to identify solutions to customer problems

We build AWS Elastic Load Balancing services that distribute incoming application traffic across targets such as EC2 instances, containers, IP addresses, and Lambda functions. Our services provide an entry point for highly available, fault-tolerant applications and are deployed in more than 30 regions worldwide. We regularly launch services and features, including Application Load Balancer, Network Load Balancer, Gateway Load Balancer, and PrivateLink, and are building the next generation of systems to handle terabytes of data per day. Youll join the ELB Workflow team, which develops control-plane systems that manage load-balancer node lifecycles across AWS regions, including the Workflow Manager, ELB Controller, and supporting tools and pipelines. Our broader Infrastructure Services organization designs, plans, delivers, and operates AWS global infrastructure. Youll work with a diverse, inclusive group across AWS, with opportunities to own ideas and help address challenging problems. This position is based in Seattle, Washington, with a listed base salary of $143,400 per year.
